80’s Portland club kids reunite! We rejoin to reminisce of our shared youth experiences. Days spent drinking coffee at the Metro, haunting The Galleria, hanging at the square and hitting all the record stores. Until the night came, and we flocked to the dark spaces filled with the smell of cloves mingled with extra super hold aquanet hairspray, soundtracked by the latest European 12” dance mixes, with neon, strobe lights and music videos (or Bloodsport - for those that know) filling your eyes, as you danced alone in a mirror or, when you’re feeling brave, on a speaker with a friend. People who went to clubs, especially underage clubs (often the ones at SW 2nd and Pine), like the Plaza, Skootchies, The Manhattan, Confetti’s, it’s cousin across the river the Warehouse, and Quest. But not limited to those, also showing love and remembrance for places like The Spectrum (the Vancouver cousin), The Park Avenue, The Depot, The E Street Ice House, The City, FX, Dakota’s, The Lotus, PDX Underground, and any other place that we gathered to dance through the 80’s/early 90’s. It’s like a magic time machine, seeing people that you haven’t seen in 30 years, and many that you’ll never see again. Seeing dozens of them is almost surreal.
